Pinghu Economic Development Zone of Zhejiang Province (following abbreviated as “PEDZ”) was established in August 1996 and approved as provincial-level economic development zone in July 2000. Its planning area is 18.5 km2 and 14 km2 has been developed. Since 2001, the utilization foreign investment has ranked top 10 for five years in Zhejiang province. It is a provincial-level information industry characteristic zone, the only one industrial zone for Japanese investors that is approved by Zhejiang provincial government, state (Jiaxing) machinery- electronic component industry zone and core zone of state torch plan Pinghu optical-machinery-electronic industry base.

　　At present, there’re over 600 industrial enterprises in PEDZ and nearly 200 enterprises are foreign funded enterprises. The fiber communication, new type electronic component, precision machine, micro-motor etc. are the main industries of PEDZ. The optical-machinery-electronic characteristic industry has formed preliminarily. The investors come from over 20 countries and districts, such as Japan, Taiwan, Hongkong, Korea, Germany, Spain, America, Sweden and Italy etc. Among them, Japan investment enterprises has reached to 56 ones, including some international famous enterprises, such as Japan JFE, Japan NTN, KURODA, TSUGAMI, KANTO TATSUMI etc. There’re over 40 Taiwan enterprises, including some profession-leading enterprises, such as Universal Webbing, Master-Frank, Nan Liu, Shoprider etc. In recent years, more and more Europe and America enterprises choose Pinghu as their investment location and proportion increases continually. At present, there’re 12 Global 500 Enterprises have invested in PEDZ, such as Korea Sk, Korea Posco, Korea Samsung, Japan JFE etc. It takes 1/8 of the number of Global 500 enterprise investment of Zhejiang province.
